Meet With Your Advisor
Academic advisors are available year-round to meet with students. However, to ensure you have enough time to ask all your questions and to secure a schedule for the upcoming semester, it is ideal to set up an appointment in the middle of the semester. Please remember to be prepared for each appointment; write down a list of questions and have an idea of the classes you'd like to register for.
Meet with your advisor for assistance with:
- Major core requirements
- University, college, and department requirements
- Course eligibility (prerequisites)
- Petitions (e.g., requesting to take extra courses = overload)
- Degree worksheet updates
- Academic standing/GPA checks
- How to take a course at another institution
- Study abroad, referrals for international programs, and how courses are placed into your degree program
- Referrals (Honors College, career services for internships)
- Repeating courses and effects on GPA
- Graduation requirements
