The general education core, or "gen ed," is a set of requirements that must be completed by all degree-seeking undergraduate students in addition to the courses required by the individual colleges and departments.
While every student must complete the core, the specific requirements may vary depending on the major selected. Additionally, the gen ed requirements are different from college core requirements. To ensure that you take the appropriate core courses, see your academic advisor regularly. The questions below are separated by the gen ed requirement. Scroll through to find answers to questions you may have. For additional information, you can also consult the general education webpage. As always, if you can't find what you're looking for, ask an advisor!
If you are in the Honors College, please refer to the Honors curriculum for gen ed requirements and additional information.
Please understand that there are differences between the general education core, college, and department requirements. Please check with your advisor for clarification.
